Welcome to the Rotary Club of Margaret River.

If you would like to join us for our dinner meeting, we meet at 6 for 6:30PM every Monday (except Public Holidays) at the Australis (formerly All Seasons) Hotel, Wallcliffe Road. Please call the Hotel (9757 2633) to book in before 2PM on Monday.
Have a look at the venue and its location, and we look forward to meeting you, enjoying some fellowship, and probably having a glass of fine Margaret River Wine with you, and listening to an interesting speaker.

President Julien Sanderson

Departure and Welcome

President Bill and members farewelled Stefanni, returning home to Brazil,  and welcomed Manami, newly arrived from Japan, this week. For more photos of Steffi leaving please see the Photo Gallery, and to see the glowing recommendation letter that will arrive back in Brazil before Steffi please see the Members page

Past President Fran Temby.
A highlight of the Christmas meeting is captured here as President Bill surprised everyone in the Club, but one person especially, Fran Temby, by presenting her with a Paul Harris Fellow.  Bill talked of Fran’s exemplary service above self in all that she does, but particularly in her commitment to Rotary.  Fran was stunned to say the least, but managed a great thank you speech, apologizing at the same time for always asking for help  - but be warned, it will not stop!  Congratulations Fran, very well deserved!

The Rotary Foundation is one of the largest and most important programs of Rotary. Without the Foundation, Rotary could not continue its many humanitarian programs and its efforts to promote world understanding and peace. The Rotary Foundation provides educational opportunities, food for the poor, potable water in Africa and India, health care, shelter, schools and books for thousands of children and many other programs.

One of the ways the Foundation is funded is by accepting donations from individual Rotary Clubs which use their donation to recognize outstanding community contribution by individuals. In turn it is customary for the Foundation to recognize the recipient as a Paul Harris Fellow.  The fellowship was named after Paul Harris who founded Rotary in 1905

Betty Dyer has set an example to many by her contributions to her community.  Her personal involvement makes Margaret River a better place.  The Rotary club of Margaret River has recognized her efforts and has made a contribution to the Rotary Foundation in her name. On behalf of the Rotary Club of Margaret River, President Bill Ivory presented Betty with a Paul Harris pin, certificate and medal at the Club’s Rotary meeting on Monday evening.  President Bill commented that the symbolism of the recognition is to say ‘Thank You’ to Betty for making a difference in our community and to the lives of less fortunate people in the world.

By accepting the Paul Harris Fellow award, Betty joined her husband, Rex, as a Paul Harris Fellow and other such notables as Mother Theresa, Nelson Mandela, Kofi Anann, Prince Charles, Indira Gandhi, Luciano Pavarotti, King Hussein of Jordan and Pope John Paul II.
